Michael Austin

Growing up on the South Coast of NSW Michael has spent his whole life in the water.

Be it surfing, fishing, diving or spear fishing there was never too many moments away from the sea.

He started gathering and spearfishing with his friends

at the age of 16. This amount of time in the water has allowed for slow progression and breath hold adaptation to develop naturally.

Finding many hurdles and personal struggles along the way (not just in the ocean) he used his love for diving and the water to overcome them.

Michael started to find many people who had shared the same diving and life issues and found himself able to help others. The love for helping others and teaching developed.

Through Freediving courses in different agencies and a variety of instructors to learn from Michael has absorbed information to be able to further help those struggling in the water or those who are looking to progress in their diving.

 

Justine Diacomihalis

Justine began her journey into the water through swim squad at a young age.

With so much history teaching adults and kids to be comfortable in the water in fields such as - swim coach, surf instructing, personal training and now freedive instructor, Justine really has a lifetime of experience.

Also a mother of 3 she has had to juggle the day to day obstacles of family life and stress whilst trying to maintain her love for the water and teaching. She claims this is all achievable through the power of the breath.

A huge supporter of creating awareness and compassion around mental health.

Also a great mentor for strength and endurance training. Justine has a focused and educated, passionate approach to lifelong fitness and applies herself to consistent fitness routines. She loves to share her knowledge about the functions of the human body and how we can continuously improve all aspects of ourselves including our brains to help deal with mental struggles for both in and out of the water.

Justine specialises in pool disciplines which compliment her regular training schedule.

Last weekend I participated in the Surf Survival Course with DRAWN2WATER.

Even though I have been surfing for years and lifeguarding for over 10 years, I learned a lot of new facts and skills.

Michael ( Instructor ) is clearly passionate and experienced with surfing, diving and water rescue skills. He has a calm way to explain everything.

I always thought it was odd that every sport has its rules and safety regulations ( like helmets on a pushbike ) but anyone can get on a board and paddle out in any circumstance.

I recommend to master these breathing and rescue skills to all surfers, not only for yourself but also for the safety of your mates around you.
